The Hangzhou Marathon & GH Forwarding

Hangzhou is a beautiful city and also the capital and most populous city of Zhejiang Province in East China.  It’s located at the head of Hangzhou Bay which separates Shanghai and Ningbo.

If you ever get the chance, you should definitely visit this beautiful city.  I myself have had the chance to visit on several occasions back when I used to live in Shanghai.  I would compare it to Lake Windermere in northwest, England, but only being around half the size.

However, the surroundings cannot be compared, which is also why it is one of the top ten scenic areas in China.  Its also listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2011.  From the pictures above, I’m sure you can begin to imagine why.

Last weekend, the 32nd Hangzhou Marathon was held – yes it began all the way back in 1987.  It is the second longest marathon race in Chinese history and it’s considered as a world-class Marathon recognised by the Chinese Athletic Association and the Association of International Marathon and Road Races.

We had 3 people registered for the race each in a different race category, 5k couples run, half marathon and the full marathon.

So it started on a cool and foggy morning, but everyone was raring to go!

Hark, our half marathon runner was captured going strong.

Our company chairman, Mr. Zhou Lingfeng, running strong full marathons in his mid-50s.

He was also captured looking pretty relaxed during the run.  Both he and Hark are seasoned marathon runners.  Mr. Zhou this year broke through the sub 4hr full marathon running mark and he also did so this time.

A special mention should go to Elien though, he ran with his wife in what was his 3rd ever competitive 5k run.  Over the years I’ve tried to get him running, even 2 or 3k, but never succeeded.  What he needed wasn’t a push from me, it was a push from his wife 🙂

Well done to everyone!  We continue to try and promote health and fitness within our company and I’m sure there will be another run soon!
