On 20^th Nov 2018, President Xi paid a state visit to the Philippines. This is the second visit of the Chinese head of state 13 years later and also the first visit of President Xi to the Philippines. Therefore, this state visit is a milestone in enhancing China-Philippines relations.

So what can we benefit from the visit this time? Let me tell you more about it! A statement has been issued by China and the Philippines on 21^st Nov. China will speed up the process of certification and expand the import of more the Philippines tropical fruits and other high-quality agricultural products. Tianjin Port

Tianjin Port, also known as Tianjin Xingang (XINGANG, CHINA), is located at the western end of the Bohai Bay in Tianjin Binhai New Area. It is backed by Xiong’an New District, radiating northeast, north, northwest and other inland areas in China and also connecting Northeast Asia with Central and western Asia. It is themaritime gateway to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the starting point of the eastern part of the Sino-Mongolian-Russian economic corridor, the importance of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge, and the support point for strategy of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

As a world-class artificial deep-water port, Tianjin Port has 176 berth points for containers, ores, coal, coke, crude oil and products, steel, large equipment,rolling stock cars, liquefied natural gas, bulk grain, international cruises and other types of berths, 122 of which are over 10,000 tons.

In 2016, Tianjin Port’s cargo handling capacity exceeded 550 million tons, ranking fifth in the world; container throughput exceeded 14.5 million TEUs, ranking 10th in the world.

It consists of five port areas: The Beijang Port Area mainly focuses on container and groceries; Nanjiang Port Area is engaged in dry bulk and liquid bulk cargo; Dongjiang Port Area is mainly engaged in container loading and unloading, international shipping, international logistics, international trade, offshore finance and other modern service industries and its eastern region is improving the supporting functions of the city; Southern Area of Lingang Economic Zone takes heavy equipment manufacturing, new energy, grain and oil light industry as the main development direction; The Eastern Part of Nangang Port Area is a new port area dominated by bulk commodities such as coal and ore. So Tianjin port is vast with land-water region area and rich with shoreline resources.

Tianjin Port has extensive trade with more than 500 ports and more than 180 countries and regions in the world. It has 120 container liner routes and more than 550 monthly flights. About 70% of the cargo and more than 50% of import and export value come from other provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.

End of Nine Rivers – Tianjin

For Chinese people, every time when we mention Tianjin, the first impression is always “Gou Bu Li Bao zi”Which is a kind of bun that Tianjin is famous for. Actually, there are a lot more interesting things in Tianjin, here we go and let’slearn more!

People love to say that Tianjin is the end of Nine Rivers, to be more specific, nine rivers including South Grand Canal, North Grand Canal, Daqing River, Ziya River and Yongding River, these rivers flow in to Bohai Sea through Hihe River.

The history of Tianjin can be traced back to Southern Song Dynasty, the name of Tianjin was settle down in Yongle Period of Ming Dynasty. The famous scenic spot call “Five Avenue” is actually the concession set up by the 8 Armies when the time is late Qing Dynasty. That’s why it looks exotic.

On January 31, 2018, British Prime Minister Theresa May visited China with her delegation and took part in a series of important events. 2018 is a new start for China’s opening up to the outside world and the bilateral trade cooperation between China and Britain. According to H.M. Revenue and Customs, the bilateral trade in goods between UK and China was USD39.53 billion, increasing 12.9% from January to June in 2018. The value of British exports to China is USD14.5 billion US dollars, which increase by 33.0% and account for 5.8% of total UK exports. In June, China became the fifth largest UK Export market and the fourth largest source of imports.

The top four commodities that Britain exports to China are precious metal products, transportation equipment, mechanical and electrical products as well as mineral products. From January to June, each month’s export value is were USD3.92 billion, USD3.20 billion, USD1.84 billion and USD1.74 billion, respectively, accounting for 27.0%, 22.0%, 12.7% and 12.0% of total UK export to China.

The first “London renminbi business quarterly report” jointly released by the City of London and the People’s Bank of China’s European representative office on September 26 shows that the second quarter of this year was 69 billion pounds, at the same time, London has become the world’s second largest offshore RMB clearing center.

The first China International Import Expo brought new opportunities for close cooperation between China and the UK, and worked more closely with Chinese partners to explore more Chinese buyers. The UK Pavilion will show the world’s leading companies in the fields of healthcare and life sciences, finance and professional services, education, creative industries, artificial intelligence and big data with innovation as the theme. The Shanghai Marathon 2018

Our company chairman Mr. Zhou Lingfeng started running full marathons in Ningbo, it was the summer of 2015 and he felt very tired running the Marathon – and almost lost his way. When he finally arrived in the finish line, he made a decision to find out how to overcome this obstacle and excel in running full marathons.

Earlier this week in the Shanghai International Marathon 2018.11.18, running in the rain he managed to get a great time in the over 50s category: 03:44:08. It was the first time he participated in the Shanghai International marathon because its hard to qualify – all applications are checked. As a reqular marathon runner over the past few years, he managed to get approved. Another one of our runners, Hark did not get a place.

After running a lot of marathons, he wanted to share his experience with us in running as it could help us in many ways. He bought 50 books “Das Grosse Laufbuch”, to give to people within our company as a way to encourage us to run more and also understand how to run.

“Das Grosse Laufbuch “allowed him to run and take his running to the next level, he hopes that with these books, it can also help the people within the company that want to run, to learn and also take themselves up to another level in fitness, running and in life.

Teambuilding Weekend

On a weekend that signified a distinct drop in temperature in Ningbo, G.H Forwarding moved to a lakeside resort on the outskirts of Ningbo to have a final teambuilding weekend for 2018.

The resort was a great setting with a Christmas tree set up already, the only thing missing was snow!

Taking advantages of being so close to the great outdoors, we were able to start the days with a Tai Chi type of morning exercise to vitalise body and mind for the day ahead.

Time was spent productively with the main people from our different branch offices flying into Ningbo – Shanghai, Qingdao, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Vietnam offices were all present.
